Hello Blog,

About Mid-week Conundrum: Every week, I'll dive into our curious conversations – the ones that spark a thought, make you wonder, or shift your perspective. In a jist, it is a snapshot of the world through the lens of everyday talk. It’s the mid-week breather you didn’t know you needed, with a twist of insight, curiosity, and reflection.

The pandemic was two years ago. Do you remember the social cues? Stand at a six-feet distance from one another and stay at home, avoid venturing out? The world and the government of the UK were so cautiously following these rules! I remember meeting a lady for an interview who believed that the pandemic was an agenda and tried to warn me and my friend against the unknown.
The collapse of the social world and the rise of the digital one gave everyone a chance to be more flexible, especially corporates. Hence, we have the wonderful "WFH" policy. It's absolutely fabulous. Whenever I feel that my urge to socialise has been killed, I opt for Work From Home. I have noticed that the workload on me on those days, generally, would be significantly less. I would be more productive and mentally happy.
The social animal in me is the problem, though. While sitting in my comfortable bedroom, I can't stop but wonder about the important conversations I am missing out on. The FOMO kills me every time. And if I decide to take more WFH breaks, will I be considered a good employee?
A while ago, I was made to realise that I have been coming to the office quite regularly. I was made to realise that my dedication has been seen by my fellow colleagues, and it became a part of a side conversation. They have dubbed me a "workaholic".
I read an article recently that "Gen-Z's are an employer's nightmare". If employers don't provide their young employees with salaries at competitive prices, an evolving and dynamic work environment, and "flexibility" - they are losing young talent, impacting the direct business and growth of the company.
My colleagues take more work-from-home breaks than me. Sure, going to the wild white-collar zoo of Andheri East is a struggle for a lot of individuals. But I feel that the work you do staying at home, the ideas you bring and suggest to the table get "lost" and chances are even "stolen". No one can see you bringing any value to your responsibilities.
A traditional outlook with a hint of a modern twist is all you need.
Huzzah!
